Interview: our involvement with Green Infrastructure - Rosie Cheetham

Monday 10th September 2018

Name: Rosie Cheetham

Job title: Marketing Manager - Polypipe Civils

What is your involvement with GI at Polypipe?

I have been working on creating a whole host of new marketing collateral including a Technical Design Guide, Positioning brochure, website, advertising campaigns, digital media campaigns, Press releases, blogs and case studies to support the Polypipe Green Infrastructure initiative. It is the first major campaign I’ve worked on since joining Polypipe and I’ve had a very steep learning curve! We have created everything from scratch too, so there’s been a lot of collaboration between teams and departments to ensure we get everything just right.

Tell us more about GI. What does it mean to you?

I am passionate about this initiative as I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in a fairly rural environment so have an in-built appreciation of nature and understanding of the positive effect it can have on mental and physical wellbeing, But, I have been astounded by the power of trees through my research and I now look at them in a new light!

What does GI mean to our customers?

There are many different methods to add in Green Infrastructure available to our customers, and some of these have industry guidance and regulations, others don’t, so it can be confusing. I believe that our offering covers all solutions and as the industry experts, we have the knowledge, experience and technical capabilities to be able to guide our customers through the process and ensure they have the most effective, fit for purpose and cost effective solution possible.

What does GI mean to Polypipe?

GI is important to Polypipe as we are in the fortunate position to have a wealth of experience, knowledge, expertise and solutions to help any scheme benefit by adding either one or multiple techniques which will offer multi-functional benefits to the local environment. I am proud of the new marketing tools we’ve created; it will be a huge step for us as an organisation, and I’m excited to see how we start to make a difference in a wider market place.

What can people expect to see more of after our launch of GI?

Plenty more promotion of Green Infrastructure across the industry in general, I have no doubt that Polypipe will be recognised as a thought leader in this arena. We will continue to develop and strengthen the new collaborative partnerships we have created with key companies. We will be able to share our results from the ongoing research on our very own smart Blue-Green roof at Aylesford, we are developing informative videos, interesting blog posts, cool animations, and the introduction of virtual reality are all on the radar!

Which do you feel is the most important multi-functional benefit?

Ooh, what a tough decision!! It’s a tie between health and wellbeing and biodiversity for me.
