Polypipe Ventilation Wins Coveted Product Award

Friday 21st June 2013

Polypipe Ventilation is delighted to have been successful at the Housebuilder 2013 Product Awards, winning the category for Best Services Product with its Silavent Green Line HRX Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) range.

At a ceremony which took place at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham on 20th June, these highly innovative products were recognised as outstanding by the judges for their easy-to-install design, compact size and extremely low Specific Fan Power, enabling reduced energy usage and a higher SAP rating.

Neil Tilsley, Managing Director of Polypipe Ventilation, commented, “As testament to the company’s commitment to delivering effective, sustainable solutions, we have put a great deal of effort into designing the HRX range to ensure it would offer one of the most installer- and home owner-friendly MVHR solutions available. We are therefore delighted to receive this award as recognition of this achievement. The HRX range incorporates numerous design enhancements which dramatically reduce installation time and as such, the units have now been accepted as the standard by many national and regional developers”.

MVHR is now widely recognised as being highly effective in reducing heating costs and energy usage in homes, as well as helping to prevent condensation and improve overall indoor air quality. In response to feedback from installers, the HRX range has been designed specifically to make installing and commissioning the unit quicker and easier than alternative models on the market. The compact and lightweight design ensures that the HRX will readily fit into standard kitchen cupboards as well as lofts. In addition to a remote wiring centre, which also takes away the need for the installer to dismantle the appliance upon installation, all units in the HRX range are ‘ambidextrous’ so that the units can be fitted to the left or right of the property regardless of the location of the external walls.  This also avoids the need for complex ‘cross over’ duct runs which can be an issue in buildings with limited space.

A common industry concern with MVHR is ease of end user operation. Whilst new homes usually come with a detailed appliance information pack, this information rarely makes it through to subsequent buyers. As a result, many new home owners can be unaware that they own an MVHR system, let alone understand how to operate it. To address this concern, Polypipe has mounted user instructions directly onto the HRX unit and made the user interface simple to understand and operate.
