The Glasgow site of the Polypipe business have achieved 2000 days without a lost time accident. The Glasgow site team, part of Polypipe Group plc, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic piping and ventilation systems for the residential, commercial, civils and infrastructure sectors, have donated £1700 to CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) as chosen by the site team.
Megan Stobo, Corporate Partnership Executive at CHAS visited the site and met many of the team to receive the donation.
Megan said:
“I’d like to congratulate Polypipe for their achievement and thank them for their generous donation.
“Three children die every week in Scotland of a life-shortening condition, and at present, we’re only reaching one of those families. The funds and awareness raised by our amazing supporters, like Polypipe, help us on our mission to reach every single baby, child and young person who needs us, and their family, and offer our care and support.”
CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides hospice services for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. The national charity offers palliative care and family respite via its two hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch. Its CHAS at Home service supports families in their own homes across the whole of Scotland and has teams working in communities and hospitals across the country.
The cheque was presented by Polypipe Chief Executive Officer Martin Payne, and Glasgow site employees.

“The site’s excellent health and safety record of 2000 days without a ‘time lost’ accident is an outstanding achievement, this is a significant milestone of which everyone on the Glasgow site can be very proud.”
Polypipe, who were awarded the RoSPA Gold Award Medal award in 2018 for 6 consecutive Gold Awards 2015 for its excellent health and safety standards, introduced its ‘Charity Award for Safety and Health (CASH)’ scheme as an additional incentive and recognition of the contribution employees make to health and safety standards on manufacturing sites around the Group. Polypipe donates £5 per employee at the site once it reaches 500 days without a lost time accident, and then at £5 increments for each 500 days without a lost time accident.
