Installer Live 2016

Wednesday 15th June 2016

Last month, our team travelled to Coventry for Installer Live 2016, a 3-day event for the UK’s plumbing and heating professionals.

This year we were able to showcase our plastic plumbing and underfloor heating ranges, offer expert advice and give installers a real hands-on experience with our products.

Business Growth

For those installers looking to grow their business and hone their skills with underfloor heating, we introduced them to our Registered Installer Network (RIN).

The Registered Installer Network provides installers with technical guidance and marketing support to help them achieve business growth by adding underfloor heating to their service offering. Our registered installers have access to our exclusive online quotation tool and have priority access to our team of design and technical experts for technical support and project designs. Installers will be fed qualified business leads for customers in their region seeking an installer for their underfloor heating projects by the Polypipe UFH team. We also offer nationally accredited BPEC training in our specialist Professional Development Centre in Doncaster.

For those focused on business growth and future development, Director of Sales for Polypipe Underfloor Heating, Tom McElkerney, presented a seminar in which he explained the key touchpoints for installers to increase margins and how to spot sales opportunities open to them when promoting underfloor heating solutions. With over 25 years’ experience, Tom has a background in business consultancy and understands a thing or two about finding opportunities in growth markets.

Exclusive to Installer Live 2016 we brought elements of our specialist Professional Development Centre to the show. Installers were invited to use training bays to practice laying underfloor heating pipe in our red floor panels (for new solid floor applications), or to get hands on making joints with our four fittings ranges at our plastic plumbing station.

Hands On Challenges

Putting installers to the test and allowing them to show off their skills, we also had two time-trial challenges on stand. For the underfloor heating challengers, the aim was to lay underfloor heating pipe in a spiral configuration in the fastest time. The winner was Sam Fisher with a time of 3:20. Sam bagged himself a round of golf on the old course at St Andrews, and a luxury stay in the prestigious hotel.

For the plastic plumbing competitors, the speed challenge involved putting our popular PolyMax push-fit fittings range to the test. Contenders took to a competition board to recreate a PolyMax plumbing circuit in the fastest time possible. The winner of our plastic plumbing challenge was Alex Bilclough with a time of 2:06. Alex bagged himself a fighter jet flight experience.

Congratulations to both of our winners!
