Polypipe adds Elegance to exclusive housing development
Polypipe’s Elegance guttering and downpipes ensured the look of seven new homes at a highly sought after development was in-keeping with the heritage and traditional appearance required.
After working closely with developer, Selleck Nicholls Homes, Polypipe supplied its Elegance Rainwater system to the picturesque Stoneycliffe Place housing development in Princetown, Devon, providing the decorative
and traditional look of cast iron with all of the product and installation benefits of using PVC-U.
Situated within the heart of Dartmoor National Park, special consideration was required to ensure the exterior of the new buildings and products selected were aesthetically sensitive to the local area - which contains properties dating back to the early 19th Century. Polypipe’s Elegance Rainwater system creates the look of cast iron, therefore mirroring the look of the surrounding properties whilst providing the benefits of using a more modern material such as PVC-U. The range is also stabilised so that the product will not fade over time when in direct sun light.
In this project the Elegance Ogee profile with in-built notches was specified, ensuring a secure fit for retaining clips, and preventing guttering becoming dislodged due to heat expansion. Being lighter in weight than traditional cast iron materials, Polypipe’s Elegance is also easy to handle and install, providing health and safety benefits on-site as workers weren’t required to handle heavy cast iron products. The light weight nature of the product also meant easy manoeuvring which was vital as access to the site was restricted within the National Park.
Elegance is supplied ready to fit without the need for painting or protective coating, further ensuring quick installation on-site and cost reductions.
Due to the high-end specification of the Selleck Nicholls Homes, the guttering also needed to be durable with a long-lasting finish without the need to apply corrosion control traditionally used with cast iron systems, all the qualities encompassed in Elegance.
