Introducing... Air Admittance Valves

Wednesday 30th September 2020

A new addition to the Polypipe Building Product's range of Air Admittance Valves comes in the form of a Push-fit offering which allow more flexibility for the installer.

Air Admittance Valves are a great alternative to conventionally venting and terminating a soil stack. The valves are designed to reduce the number of vent pipes in a building which would usually be vented through the roof to the atmosphere.

When installed, the valves are in the closed position which will prevent foul air escaping from the pipework system in normal atmospheric conditions or when positive pressure is created in the soil stack or waste pipes. Positive pressure can be created by the discharge from appliances or fluctuations in pressure within the drainage system.

When negative pressure is encountered, the valve will automatically open and allow air to enter the stack, equalising pressures and therefore preventing loss of water seals in the traps on the appliance.

Our 100mm and 82mm valves are for use on soil stacks in buildings up to five storeys high, and the 32mm, 40mm and 50mm valves are for use on branch discharge pipes.
