#InspiringInclusion: International Women’s Day 2024

Friday 1st March 2024

International Women’s Day 2024 is all about ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ this year, hoping to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.

IWD is encouraging organisations to ensure the needs, interests and aspirations of women and girls are valued and included in a variety of ways such as: designing and building infrastructure meeting the needs of women and girls; supporting women and girls into leadership, decision-making, business, and STEM; addressing further areas supporting the advancement of women and girls; and recruiting, retaining, and developing female talent.

As part of Genuit Group, we want IDW to present the opportunity to challenge both ourselves and our working environments. Look around you at work, are we #InspiringInclusion?

What Genuit Group is doing to #InspireInclusion?

Progress so far includes:

  • Increase in overall women in the business (from 25% in 2021 to 26% in 2023)
  • Increase in women in senior leadership roles (25% in 2022 to 29% currently)
  • Increase in females at board level.
  • Revised Maternity Policy based on feedback from women in our business.

There is still a long way to go across our business and many others, but we are asking our colleagues to ask the question, do we inspire inclusion?

What can you to do #inspireinclusion?

Every one of us has the power to challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias, and seek out inclusion.

We want to spot the stereotypes we might still be guilty of using, challenge those, and understand how it is not inclusive.

  • Look for language - Do you stereotype though your language or phrases that you use? Is there any language used in our signage or literature that we should change?

  • Seek out stereotypes - Do you stereotype without realising, for example when it comes to gender roles, do you assume that a certain type of role is male/female?

  • Play out process - Is there gender bias in any of our process? Are there processes geared more towards men and not women?

Bringing our whole self to work

Genuit Group’s Diversity and Inclusion Ambition is there so that every member of every team under Genuit Group feels comfortable bringing their whole self to work.

By inspiring inclusion, embracing equity and equality, we are working towards a culture where everyone is free to be themselves without fear of rejection, ridicule, or exclusion. By doing this, we not only feel more successful in ourselves, but become a more successful business together.

We believe a diverse team of talented people, who truly feel they belong, will enable us to achieve our strategic goals.

We will create an environment where everyone is comfortable to bring their whole self to work.
