Helping Doncaster UTC students build a gingerbread house for the Eve's Trust

Friday 9th December 2022

Polypipe Building Products recently collaborated with students from Doncaster UTC as part of a project to create a Santa's grotto for the Eve Merton Dreams Trust.

We were approached by Doncaster UTC with the task of designing and constructing a gingerbread house from Polypipe products that was big enough to house Santa.

Site Maintenance Manager Leon Stoppard said of the project,

"After the designs were kindly put together by Apprentice Digital Engineer Apprentice Harry Sampson and Head of Technical and Customer Experience Dean Asher, we then had the task of making this a reality in the Doncaster Wool Market.

"On the day, PM Fitter Ben Kelly and Harry were joined by 5 of Doncaster UTC's Year 9 students to help us erect the structure. We were surprised on how well the students worked and the structure was up in no time at all.

"Alongside this, a local crochet group known as 'The Mother Hookers' worked tirelessly to create the outer skin of the house.

"I would like to thank everybody involved in this, including Jacob Smout and Will White for their help too in making this come to life.

"The house is now being used in the Wool Market with all proceeds going to Eve's trust."

The Eve Merton Dreams Trust aims to raise money to help create a dream, or grant a wish, for both patients and families impacted by terminal and serious cancer conditions. For further information visit Eve Merton Dreams Trust (evestrust.co.uk).
