The Genuit Group Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for the Maddie Rose Campaign

Monday 10th October 2022

On Friday 7th October 2022, teams from across the Genuit Group took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge with an aim to raise money for the Maddie Rose Campaign and Construction Youth Trust.

To date, the groups have raised over £14,000 from the event.

Set up by the Construction Youth Trust, the Maddie Rose Campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the incredible careers and opportunities available in the supplier and merchanting sector and inspire diverse young talent to discover rewarding careers that enable them to achieve their full potential.

Walking for us from Polypipe Building Products and Mason Pinder were:

⛰️ Team 1 - Callum Beckett, Adam PearsonRichard Eddy, Lawrence Padley, Richard Johnson, Connor Smith and Stewart Pearson.

⛰️ Team 2 - Adrian Bristow, Simon Golightly, Ben Hawker, Paul Martin, Neil Fox and Joseph Lappin.

⛰️ Team 3 - David Harryman, Matthew Reaney, Aaron Clayton, Dean Fitzpatrick, Thomas Rose and Simon Mitchell.

The general consensus was that the weather was terrible. Plastic Plumbing Category Manager Adam Pearson said of the challenge:

We arrived at the start in the pitch black at 05:45, the wind gusting around our heads whilst we got our gear together and checked in. We were told we'd be setting off ASAP as the conditions would worsen and they did! The weather for the first 5 hours or so was awful with rain, strong winds and sleet, we couldn't see anything from Ingleborough or Pen-y-Ghent, luckily the sun started to come out and raise our spirits and the views across the Yorkshire countryside from the top of Whernside were something to behold.

With the end insight we all felt a sense of achievement as we came down from the summit to the finish line all smiles knowing we'd put in a shift and completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks for a great cause; The Maddie Rose Campaign in support of The Construction Industry Trust.

Well done to everybody who took part in the 24 mile challenge from across the Genuit Group, raising a fantastic amount of money for a great cause.
