The Big Bang Yorkshire and Humber 2018

Tuesday 26th June 2018

The Big Bang Yorkshire and Humber event recently took place at Doncaster racecourse and was chance to show the young talent of today exactly what Polypipe is all about, to encourage and show the next generation what a career within our industry would entail and show how as a business we can support them through an apprenticeship.

The stand that we took to the event had a crazy golf game and an example Mould Tool. Mick Hirst, Moulding Foreperson, was taking apart and putting back together the mould tool to demonstrate to the young attendees exactly how it worked. There was also the chance to find out about Polypipe’s products and career opportunities.

The event celebrated and raised the profile of young people’s achievements in science and engineering. Students, teachers and STEM clubs were invited to bring along and showcase the great projects they’d been working on.

We were proud to be able to sponsor two prestigious awards at the event and Rachel Armstrong, L&D Administrator, presented them at a special awards ceremony.

The Young Engineer of the Year for the Yorkshire and Humber region went to Tapton School for their project entitled SENtinal.

The Young Scientist of Year for the Yorkshire and Humber region went to Holmfirth High School for their project Does different types of conditioner affect the strength of hair?

They will go on to represent the region at The Big Bang Fair at The NEC Birmingham in March 2019.

It was a great event which Polypipe Building Products was proud to sponsor. It is certainly encouraging to see so many young, enthusiastic individuals in one room.
