Wednesday 19th October 2022

Polypipe Building Products Regional Sales Manager Gary Foord and Business Development Director James Matthews recently completed the Challenge Adventure Charities (CAC) ‘Cahors Challenge’ alongside Toby Edwards from Graham Plumbers Merchant and Sammy Shipton from SB Shipton.

The 500 mile ride took place over 3 days as follows:

Day 1 Saint Malo - Angers – 164 miles, 7,000ft climbing

The teams start cycling from under the historic walls of the maritime city of St Malo, heading from Brittany through parts of Normandy before turning South to cross the Loire for the first nights’ rest in a holiday village near Angers.

Day 2 Angers – Limoges  224 miles, 13,400ft climbing

After an early breakfast on Day 2, the teams will follow the Loire through Saumur and then the Vienne and finally the Creuse river valley taking us South to Limoges.

Day 3  Limoges – Cahors  177 miles, 11,000ft climbing

From Limoges the teams continue South to the source of the Dordogne, passing Rocamadour to the finish in Cahors, home to the French Malbec wine, revered by Tzars, Popes and Princes.

Gary Foord said of the challenge,

"It was great to be part of the CAC Challenge once again. The challenge is not just cycling, the hills, more hills... it is about navigating a 500+ mile route, driving on small French roads and not getting distracted by stunning scenery, prepared to be travelling for over 12 hours a day and most of all; working as a team of 4 for 3 days 24/7! Oh, and did I mention there were some hills as well!!”

The team are so close to reaching their fundraising target. If you would like to donate you can do so here Gary Foord is fundraising for Challenge Adventure Charities (justgiving.com)
