MP Tracey Crouch opens new product line at Polypipe Building Services following £2.4m investment

Polypipe Building Services based in Aylesford welcomed Chatham and Aylesford MP Tracey Crouch to launch its Terrain PVC pipe which uses up to 65% recycled materials following an investment of over £2.4m by the plastic drainage manufacturer.
Two new production lines are now in operation at the site following a substantial increase in demand from within the construction sector for more sustainable products as the government pushes UK industry towards the 2050 net zero target.
The updated Terrain PVC pipe system is produced to British Standard EN1453 to ensure the same exacting Terrain strength and durability and makes use of recycled material from high grade consistent post- consumer PVC which would typically be disposed of as waste.
Steve Tulett, Operations Manager at Polypipe Building Services, explains: “We’re delighted to welcome Tracey Crouch and show her this update to our Terrain PVC system, as the addition of this product is key to our business growth and in creating job security within the Aylesford area.
“Contractors and specifiers already know and trust our Terrain range which has been around for nearly 60 years, and they can now benefit from its enhanced sustainability credentials too.
“This investment is in keeping with our aim, as part of the wider Genuit group, to achieve our target for 62% of total materials used in our products to come from recycled sources by 2025 and achieve a 66% reduction in CO2 emissions.
“This evolution in our Terrain PVC pipe will play a significant role in achieving both of those goals, while also ensuring our continued growth as a business.”
The investment and updated product launch is part of a wider sustainability strategy by Polypipe Building Services which employs over three hundred people.
The upgraded Terrain PVC pipes will be produced as a multilayer product in the same characteristic grey colour that has become an industry mainstay. It is now available to customers to order.
