Polypipe Building Services Awarded Silver Investors In People Award

Wednesday 30th March 2022

Polypipe Building Services (PBS) is celebrating being reaccredited for a further three years with an Investors in People (IIP) Silver Award.

Claire Hawkes, Head of HR at PBS, said: “This is an amazing achievement because we worked through a pandemic to achieve this latest accreditation and under the most recent and more challenging ‘new generation framework’ created by the IIP.

“We always put our people first and the final report that the IIP assessors sent us highlighted this. Our colleagues said we could not have done more to support them during the pandemic. This is a real testament to how well our company’s set of six values, including commitment, innovation, passion and integrity, are embedded into the business. Our colleagues appreciated the work that we did during the pandemic to keep them safe and informed, and they recognised that we were genuinely concerned for them and cared about their welfare.”

Achieving a silver award demonstrates that PBS has the right principles in place and that its people and leaders make active efforts to check that they’re happening consistently throughout the business.

Andrew Cullum, PBS’s Managing Director, UK, said: “Our values are truly rooted in the business. People want to work for a company that reflects their values; by having a clear and consistent value framework and a silver-accredited ‘people’ framework, we can ensure the sustainable success of the business into the future.

“We want our people to bring their true selves into the office every day; we want to empower everyone so they feel part of the one team at PBS. We are investing heavily in our leaders through our leadership development programme to ensure they continue to embed our values, avoid hierarchical management styles and fully understand people’s strengths and skills to support them in their roles at PBS.”

The IIP assess a company against its ‘people framework’ which is based on its own research into what makes a company succeed in the long-term and trends that demonstrate how successful companies lead and support their people. Three key areas are the focus of the assessments: Leading, Supporting and Improving. From these three areas there are 27 different points a company is assessed on. The assessment includes a survey that is sent to all colleagues, which is then followed up by face-to-face interviews. All this information is analysed alongside information provided by human resources and management to determine the level of accreditation.
