Luxury waterfront apartments benefit from underfloor heating

Polypipe’s underfloor heating specified for cosy new build lakeside apartments.

When selecting a heating solution that would maximise space in 20 one-storey new build homes, installers from Holdfast Plumbing opted for Polypipe’s underfloor heating solution. Overlooking the lakeside at Barton Marina in Burton Upon Trent, the new residential development is in a perfect picturesque setting for those who enjoy the quiet life.

With each of the compact homes featuring a modern, open-plan design, it was important that the heating solution specified would not compromise the overall aesthetic, and would maximise the available space. The installers opted for the traditional staple method of fixing Polypipe’s underfloor heating pipes in the floor.

Sitting directly above the insulation layer, a staple floor system offers a cost effective, and simple way to install underfloor heating within new build developments.

Polypipe’s Staple system for solid floors uses a traditional fixing method of laying pipe and stapling it directly to the insulation. Screed and concrete can then be poured directly over the top, and finished off with
the desired floor covering.

By removing the need for radiators, underfloor heating creates more useable space, which is a key benefit when working within smaller areas.

Radiators also often struggle to distribute an even temperature, which can result in cold spots, whereas underfloor heating provides an even heat output, meaning residents at Barton Marina will enjoy a comfortable temperature throughout their homes.
