There are several ways to add underfloor heating to an extension project. If adding to the extension only, you can choose a solid floor system to be laid inside your new floor. The pipework is added above the insulation and the screed is poured on top.
Alternatively, you could make the most of the general disruption caused by building work and take the opportunity to retrofit your entire home with underfloor heating. The simplest way to do this is to build your new floor up to the level of the existing floor and lay Polypipe’s Overlay™ system throughout. The system is just 18mm deep, and is laid on top of an existing floor and then covered with the floor type of your choice.
Underfloor heating is compatible with all kinds of floor covering, including tiles, wood, laminate and carpet. The controls can also be tailored to suit you with options from basic dial thermostats through to internet enabled Smart controls. You can control the whole house or single rooms, and have the option to create individual zones within a large open plan space, giving you unprecedented levels of flexibility. All while saving money on your energy bills.
