Our people are our most valuable asset

As well as promoting a sustainable built environment through water and climate management solutions in the UK and abroad, we are proud to be recognised for our efforts in developing and safeguarding our staff.

We employ nearly 3,000 people and we place a huge emphasis on the knowledge and experience they bring to Polypipe. Through them we offer unparalleled customer service to ensure your project receives the best possible solution.

Investing in people
To continue our success we know we need to maintain a stable and reliable workforce – recruiting and retaining the right people and fostering a company-wide team spirit, with regular and meaningful communication.

During 2015 we continued in our sustained efforts to support young people in gaining experience in our industry through dedicated apprenticeship programmes in engineering. Our apprenticeship numbers increased 40% in 2015, ensuring relevant skills are available for our future needs – with further investment planned for 2016.

Investing in people and focusing on engagement remains at the core of our business strategy, with a number of training and development programmes running across all of our businesses specifically targeting management and leadership development.

A thorough personal development programme is in operation across our workforce. We encourage everyone to progress and develop new skills to help build on our existing reputation and move the business forward. It is our people who will ensure that our success is sustainable, supporting each other and being flexible and responsive to the demands of our customers and the marketplace.

Industry leading specialists
Our materials and product development specialists are some of the leading authorities in the industry. It is their knowledge and experience that allows us to offer the very highest standards of product design and development. Our team also includes fully qualified design engineers who offer detailed specification guidance and we also employ both fabrication and installation specialists.
Apprenticeships encouraged
We have an outstanding record of training and retaining apprentices in long-term, full-time employment. In fact, several members of our management team started their Polypipe careers as apprentices.
Advanced engineering training
We have recently placed apprentices at the new Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield, underlining our commitment to advanced manufacturing engineering.
