Wednesday 18th December 2019

Jordan Clayton of Polypipe Ltd (Mason Pinder) has recently been announced as the winner of the Worshipful Company of Horners and BPF 2019 Polymer Apprentice of the Year Award.

Jordan is currently undertaking a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship at BTEC Level 3 whilst working at Mason Pinder. Jordan was said to have demonstrated a high level of achievement in the workplace as well as outstanding achievements in his apprenticeship.

His involvement in an improvement project lead to a company saving of approximately £260,000. Furthermore, his work-life balance has improved over the years and he is currently training physically on a regular basis.

Mason Pinder foreman and Jordan’s Manager Simon Golightly added,

The cost saving for me is not the focus, yes, it is a fantastic achievement however what it has done for Jordan’s development and communication skills is actually invaluable. This was an area identified during performance reviews that I asked Jordan to work on and I can proudly say that it has been well and truly succeeded.

Jordan will soon be invited to attend the Livery Companies Skills Council Award Ceremony in March 2020 to receive his Polymer Apprentice Certificate, ceremonial drinking horn and £500 cash prize.

The BPF continues to work closely with the WCoH to promote the plastics industry to the next generation and more information on these efforts can be found at www.polymerzone.co.uk.
