The Terrain Acoustic dB12 piping system is just one of a package of products from Polypipe Terrain which has been installed on an innovative new residential development in the heart of Manchester. Along with other Terrain Drainage products the Terrain Acoustic dB12 system has been used on the mixed–use Abito development built by Ask Life Ltd in Manchester’s Salford Quays.
The Abito development – which has been constructed around a pioneering new approach to the use of living space – uses exposed water and soil pipes as a design feature in the car park and basement levels. This required a piping system that had a suitably high-quality appearance but which also provided a high level of acoustic insulation and this led to the selection of Polypipe Terrain’s Acoustic dB12.
Terrain Acoustic dB12 provides a simple, quick and cost effective sound control measure which can substantially exceed the sound performance requirements of the Building Regulations. Ideally suited to multi-occupancy buildings such as hotels, hospitals and apartments the system’s multilayer pipe construction and acoustically insulating fittings create a durable and reliable solution that increases the level of soundproofing within a building without the need for additional materials and onsite labour.
