Investment - 3-year £60 million programme

Polypipe has undergone a continuous programme of investment in manufacturing over recent years to further enhance its market leading position. A large proportion of this investment has been in new plant and machinery. A key consideration was our wish to reduce energy and raw material consumption and increase output.

Sustainability is not just a pipe dream

Polypipe Civils make a conscious effort to ensure as much is being done to help the external environment as possible. Products supplied to the market byPolypipe Civils are manufactured with sustainability in mind, making sure we provide sustainable solutions for generations to come. We constantly evaluate our systems and procedures so that the whole process of production is as sustainable as possible from material use through to product application.

New Fabrications facilities – Off-Site Solutions

A £3 million investment has been made in Ridgistorm-XL based at the recently opened £6 million new headquarters in Loughborough. This has more than doubled the Fabrications department from 12,000 to 30,000 square metres of modern manufacturing facilities. As the only manufacturer within the UK plastic pipe market with a dedicated Fabrications team, Polypipe has recognised the importance of modern methods of construction and the growing need within the UK for solutions constructed off-site.

Polystorm Range

The use of modular cell systems has risen dramatically in recent years as consulting engineers, contractors and developers seek to manage surface water run-off on developed sites. In order to meet this growing demand and offer improved service levels and shorter lead times to its customers, Polypipe has made a further commitment to extend its production capacity. This includes a 12,000 sq.ft. extension to the Horncastle production line with 4 new injection lines and a fully automated 6 axis robot system.

Innovation

Polypipe has dedicated research and development facilities setting the highest standard in the industry. In the last six years there has been extensive investment in laboratory facilities including the independent UKAS accredited Berry & Hayward laboratory. Our laboratories allow product development and certification testing to be undertaken in-house therefore shortening time to market and maximising product benefits for our customers.

Polypipe are delighted to have become the first plastic piping systems company to be awarded the coveted Carbon Trust Standard.(add carbon trust logo) Lean manufacturing techniques, and our approach to recycling all manufacturing waste, are at the heart of our sustainable manufacturing processes, whilst we also have the capability to re-use off-cuts of our products if they are returned from site. Indeed, plastic is itself a sustainable product - lighter and easier to handle and transport, it requires less energy to be converted from polymer to finished product, than traditional materials. Furthermore, our product portfolio includes many products designed to aid the construction of a more sustainable built environment, such as rainwater harvesting and underfloor heating.
