Mechanical Extract Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR)

Following the successful launch last year of its Mechanical Extract Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) units, Polypipe Ventilation has expanded its HR range with the addition of high capacity models designed for larger properties.

The new Energy Saving Trust Best Practice compliant and SAP Q rated HR02 and HR03 units accommodate up to seven wet rooms and a kitchen and work at up to 640 Pascals of pressure, allowing for very long duct runs. This increased capacity makes them suitable for larger domestic properties, yet they remain extremely compact and light weight and can be easily installed in kitchen eye-level cupboards or lofts, installed through even the smallest of loft hatches.

The Polypipe HR MVHR units work by warming fresh air drawn into the building, with the heat from waste stale air – as found in the kitchen or bathroom for example - using an efficient counter flow heat exchanger, thus reducing the need for heating. An average bathroom full of moist air can contain over 600 watts of heat energy and is exhausted twice every hour. The HR appliances can recover more than 92% of this heat directly, saving cost and reducing carbon emissions. In addition to reducing fuel bills, the HR units help prevent condensation and improve overall indoor air quality.

Domus Radial Duct System - Whole House Ventilation

Traditional ducting systems are based upon a branch design, with ducting to rooms run off a main duct connected to a MEV, MVHR unit or in-line fan. The Domus Radial Duct System works differently in that each room vent is served by one 75mm semi rigid duct which connects directly to a central distribution system splitting the air from the Air Handling Unit.

In specific market applications, the system benefits from less air leakage and improved air flow, which also makes for easier commissioning and a quieter system. Furthermore, with its longer, semi-rigid, flexible duct lengths and easy to assemble push fit joints, the Domus Radial Duct System is quicker to install than traditional branch ducting.

Although suitable for use in all domestic properties, the Domus Radial Duct System is ideal for larger houses where modern methods of construction may make traditional ducting problematic, e.g. as a result of poor access to voids, or where multiple room extraction is required.
