Polypipe completes Alpine fundraiser for The Prostate Cancer Charity

Two sporting teams from Polypipe are back on home soil after successfully completing the Keyline Thunderball Rally 2012.

A car and cycle team from Polypipe took part in the charity adventure, which saw participants navigating their way to the Swiss Alps and back in James Bond themed vehicles to raise valuable funds for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Polypipe’s driver Steve Smith and co-driver Allan Wright proved their map reading skills, completing the 1,900 mile challenge through France, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland in their BMW Z3, without the aid of a satellite navigation system.

While keen cyclists Steve Kite, Glen Sabin and John Moss flew out to Switzerland to join the team, cycling the final and extremely gruelling 100 miles uphill to the finish in support of the cause.

Polypipe have so far raised £6,000 for the cause, with the overall KeylineThunderball Rally charity fund for the Prostate Cancer Charity now up to an impressive £275,000.

Polypipe’s merchant key account manager Steve Smith commented: ‘Taking part in the Keyline Thunderball Rally was a once in a lifetime experience. Despite the torrential rain, evening thunderstorms and 35 degree temperatures we all completed the challenge unscathed! There was a fantastic spirit among all the participants, knowing we were raising money for such a worthwhile cause, and we’d like to thank everybody who has supported us in this fundraiser”.

Polypipe would like to thank all of its supporters in this challenge, including Permavoid, AKG Polymers, Bromsgrove Cars, Viridor, Lighthouse (UK) Ltd and SLG Marketing.
